Janet Gaynor won the first Academy Award for best actress in part for her performance in 7th Heaven. She portrays an abused Parisian Street waif who finds strength through the confidence of a sewer-worker played by Charles Farrell. Their “heaven" in a seventh-floor garret is interrupted by World War I, in one of the most romantic, funny, and moving films of the silent era. The score, compiled from historic silent film music by Rodney Sauer and performed by Vancouver Symphony Orchestra players, includes lush romantic compositions, and a variety of battle sound effects.
